The Drake Hotel is the perfect location to host an intimate wedding. Whether it’s just you and your partner saying your vows in your hotel room or you have a small group of family and friends as witnesses, the trendy and cool boutique hotel can put together one good wedding celebration.
The recently designed Artist’s Loft includes multiple rooms and a shared common space, and it’s become the space to host an intimate elopement in. Rachel and Philip were one of those couples who had to pivot their wedding plans and decide how and when to move forward. When they came across the Drake Hotel and the Artist Loft, it made perfect sense for the small ceremony they were putting together in lieu of their original plans.
With their immediate family in attendance, Rachel and Philip were able to do what they had been waiting all year to do, exchange their vows and rings so they could officially be pronounced married. The ceremony was an emotional one, Rachel and Philip have been together for almost a decade and you could really feel the strength of their bond. You could see how much it meant to them to have their families there, and Rachel’s mom was on duty to record some video to send to all their relatives overseas who were originally intended to be guests at the wedding. Rachel got to toss her bouquet (directly to the one single lady in attendance) and share a toast with her family - she was teary-eyed as she got through all of the thank you’s. It was the kind of experience that warms your heart, where you can feel the love radiating from everyone.
The day was short and simple, but that didn’t take away how special it really was. Yes, Rachel and Philip wanted to have a wedding, one that might have looked a little different then the one they had, but what was most important to them was getting married. Making it official. We are all hopeful that we will get to celebrate will ALL our friends and families again one day, but it doesn’t mean we have to put life on hold to do so. If anything, these extremely intimate weddings have put an emphasis on what the day is truly about, and you can tell that every guest knows what an honour it is to be a part of it.
The Drake Hotel and other boutique venues around Toronto have become the perfect locations for these types of weddings, offering up a unique experience that really emphasizes those cool, city vibes. When the events of the day are done, you can cozy up with your partner with room service and just chill out. So if you are planning an urban elopement (because that’s what you always wanted or because you have decided that you and your partner don’t want to wait any longer) just remember it will be special. It will be a day you never forget.
