My summer began with a beautiful wedding at Langdon Hall, one of the best hidden gems near Toronto. I’m a sucker for all things vintage and Katarina & Aalok’s wedding oozed a level of refined and elevated modern vintage that blended perfectly with the stunning grounds of Langdon Hall.
Opting for an intimate wedding in the presence of their closest family and friends, the bride and groom made the most of their day as they took in the small moments and embraced the intimacy of the environment and setting.
Prior to the ceremony Katarina & Aalok had their first look in an open field beneath a large gathering of trees, hidden by the leaves and shielded from the summer sun, it was undoubtably a fantastic start to what would be a memorable and timeless wedding. Although it’s unusual to say, the pandemic actually brought a legitimate upside to their wedding. Langdon Hall sat mostly empty, with the reduced capacity it felt as if the bride and groom were wandering their own personal grounds, making stops at the garden and greenhouse, exploring the surprising amount of nature in the surrounding areas and making the most of the stunning vintage elements that make Langdon Hall such a legendary and sought after wedding venue.
Katarina’s modern elegance and style created a stark contrast with the vintage aesthetic of Langdon Hall, but somehow it felt right, it was utterly seamless and added a layer of beauty that is truly undefined. Aalok’s minimal and timeless look was the perfect match for the bride’s style and pure quintessence. I probably could’ve spent the entire wedding day walking the grounds at Langdon Hall snapping photos of these two and never get bored. Their styles combined with the environment oozed essence of modern editorial, something that seriously influences me as a photographer, it felt like I was shooting something for Vogue magazine. Although their looks are something to be admired, it was truly their connection and vulnerability with one another that created the mood for the images. Taking in every moment together, cherishing that they could (finally) say their vows to one another and commit their lives to each other was the foundation of what turned out to be an extremely emotion fuelled wedding day.
The ceremony brought everyone together beneath a beautiful outdoor space, decorated by outstanding florals that were emphasized by the fire burning bright behind them and the arch. An entire spectrum of emotions happened in that 20 minute period and it was infectious, emotions that were deeply felt by everyone in attendance.
Although the circumstance didn’t allow for a traditional sit down dinner or dancing, the bride and groom snuck in a small moment of grooving together in the middle of their aisle, smiling ear to ear as they busted a few moves, locking eyes, they were alone in the universe even if it was just for a moment.
Before saying their final goodbye they took a walk together around Langdon Hall, taking in the setting sun and enjoying their first moment together as husband and wife before heading back to Toronto to hit up a bar and eat some pizza.
No better way to cap off a wedding day.
